Repair Minor Tooth Imperfections

What to know

Tooth Bonding

Very few people are lucky enough to have perfectly straight, white, and aligned adult teeth. Most of us feel embarrassed or frustrated by certain dental imperfections in the shape, spacing, or appearance of our teeth.

Luckily, dental bonding offers a simple and affordable way to restore and improve your smile. Dr. Stephen Cambre has helped his patients throughout Slidell, LA with their cosmetic bonding needs for more than 20 years, and he is here to help you, too!

What Is Dental Bonding?

Dental bonding is a cosmetic procedure to improve the appearance of your teeth with a composite resin. This tooth-colored plastic is easily applied to an imperfect tooth to repair chips, discoloration, fractures, or other problems. Composite resin quickly bonds to your tooth to create a new durable surface that looks and feels like a better version of your natural tooth.

What Problems Can Cosmetic Bonding Fix?

Cosmetic dental bonding can be used to fix many different aesthetic imperfections in your mouth. Though it can’t fix missing teeth or deep decay, it can address the cosmetic issues that make you dread smiling or talking face-to-face with others:

Discoloration

Chips or fractures

Small spaces or gaps between teeth

Abnormal size or shape of teeth

What Is the Cosmetic Dental Bonding Procedure?

Cosmetic bonding is a relatively quick, simple, and affordable procedure. In fact, it’s one of the easiest and least expensive of all cosmetic treatments!

When you come into Dr. Cambre’s office for dental bonding, he’ll work diligently to understand your unique needs and create a plan to carefully enhance the appearance of your smile. Dr. Cambre will also use a composite resin shade guide to select the color that best matches your natural tooth hue.

After gently abrading the surface of your tooth to create texture, the procedure is as simple as lightly coating your tooth with the putty-like resin and molding it until it creates the appearance you desire. A UV light or laser helps harden and set the cosmetic bond.

Bonding or Veneers?

If you are debating between porcelain veneers or cosmetic bonding, it's important to note that for covering an entire tooth, veneers are typically recommended. Porcelain veneers are more durable, less likely to chip, give the closest resemblance to natural teeth and typically last longer. However, they are more costly than bonding. Consult with our cosmetic dentist on which option is best for your unique needs.
