Prevention is always best
Starting at a young age, we’ll provide regular exams, x-rays (when needed,) cleanings, and age-appropriate oral hygiene advice. Pediatric dentists and pediatricians recommend that all children see a dentist by their first birthday or when they get their first tooth.
Orthodontic evaluations
Early screenings and monitoring of your child’s oral development can help them avoid complex orthodontic treatment later on. We’ll talk with parents and kids about thumb-sucking, speech concerns, and bite anatomy as it relates to future adult smiles.
Emergency care
If your child is in pain or has a broken tooth, we’ll arrange to see you as quickly as possible. Our first priority is to see that your son or daughter is comfortable and then to treat their dental emergency.
Fillings/Crowns/Extractions
Should your child have an active cavity, we’ll aim to repair it with a small filling to avoid premature tooth loss. Extensive decay can be treated with a crown. While extractions are sometimes necessary, they can alter the eruption patterns of adult teeth. When seeing our family and kids dentist in Slidell, comfortable sedation options can help your child relax through routine dental work.
A very common children’s procedure, dental sealants can be placed on children’s back molars for cavity protection. Since children are cavity prone, this is a great preventive option that can save time, money and pain.
Baby (primary) teeth can decay very quickly. It’s important to practice regular brushing and flossing to prevent cavities from spreading to adjacent teeth, or the developing adult teeth underneath.
As your child grows, Dr. Cambre will continue to provide age-appropriate oral health care as your son or daughter’s adult smile starts to make an appearance. We’re here to be by your family’s side at every age.
